Birthday Bash - June 9, 2012

Wow!! I made it to Eighty!  June 10, 2012, Sunday
I am sure that I made it very clear that I didn't want the girls to go to alot of trouble for my B-day.  Just family and closest friends.  I didn't realize that I have so many close friends.  It was suposed to be a surprise party and it sort of was.  I did catch on when I saw what I assumed was an invitation as I looked over Bonnie Pratts shoulder in Sunday school class and saw my name on a paper that she quickly folded up and looked a little funny.  Then a couple of other people kind of slipped a little.  I definately was surprised though at how many came.  Wanda counted over sixty.  Her basement was full of people. Some brought presents relating to my being eighty....eighty m&ms....eighty things about me listed in a card from the Joneses....The cake was huge.  Just had eight candels though. It was really good.  It said something like..." You're about 29,200 days old. Now eighty doesn't sound so bad, does it"  Happy 80th Birthday "  It had a layer of fruity stuff in the middle.
Gay made several really yummy salads and cresants for the chicken salad. Wanda did lots of fruit. They decorated tables with white table plastics and little photo books with pictures of me and others. Wendy made tiny flowers in little cute bottles.  Candice made pages for people to write on to put together in a book.  Chrystal made this awsome book with color coded years. Each ten years had different colored papers.  There are pictures from all stages of my life and little tidbit things that tell of things happened in that time space.  People wrote on cards to go in that book too.  It will take me a long time to read all the stuff she found for each ten year space of time in my life time.  Gay took pictures and put them in it of people who came.  Patty, Walter and Dusty Powell came from Rangely and also Marlene and Dalvas Kendall.  Layne, Pam, Barry, Temi and Chelsie & Josh came. Chrystal, Josh, Mindy and children, Logan, Clair & Jane were here.  Sharon Crook, Gillies, Burtons, Connie Cook, some of the Colletts....I need to send thank you cards.  Especially to my girls and Corena Smith. She had charge of seeing that I was kept out of the way for the full day.  She took me to breakfast at Bettys Cafe. Rita and Auer Warren came too and Auer kindof slipped about a party. Then Corena suggested we go to the Swett Ranch Day up on the mountain.  I had planned to go to a shower for the Woodward girls who are both getting married and thought that we should be able to get back in time.  But Corena suggested that we should go over to the Lodge and get a drink or something.  So we went ofer there and ordered apple pie alamode with carmel. It was sooo good.  The crust was crunchy and different. It had carmel in it too.  It was too late for the shower, so we crashed at the house...Corena really needed a nap and me too, but she stuck by me till five o'clock when we went over to Wanda's. Everyone started coming and coming and coming.  I couldn't believe it.  And everything was fixed so nice.  I doubt that these girls are capable of doing something small.  They did everything wonderfully. They are so good to me. I am so blessed with my family.  I love each and everyone so much.  They are always there for me.

I was blessed with another great grandson May 16 to Gary and Erin.  His name: Mason Dale.  I love it.  Last Saturday, June 16th, we went to Barry's and got to see this little guy.  He resembles Gary, but when I first looked at him I remembered Landon.

Landon.  He is now on his mission to the Las Vegas NV mission.  His farewell was on Mother's Day and we all went to hear him.  He gave a most unusual talk for a missionary going out.  He had his dad's sense of humor and tolerance.  It showed alot.  He was upset that he can't take his knives and guns with him.  The sons of Mosiah did.  It was good.  He will bring a different personality to the mission than most missions are used to.
