New Stake in Vernal

We attended a Four Stake Meeting at our Stake Center where we learned of the new Stake that has been created here. I couldn't keep track of who went where...I just got the part that says this ward is not affected. I am glad because we are just getting adjusted to the changes of last year when part of our ward went to a different ward and we got some other people added to our Maeser 3rd Ward. It was a great meeting. We heard from our Stake President, Michael Alexander and the other predidents, including the new ones. Then the two general authorities, 70's, I think.
Can't remember names, but they gave really good talks encouraging everyone to be missionary and temple minded. There are over 1,000 endowed members who are inactive here! Much was said about how important it is for each of us to listen for that still small voice that helps us to do the things we need to do.

I am so greatful for my testimony, that I know we have a loving Heavenly Father who has given us the perfect plan of happiness if we will accept it...and for His Son, Jesus Christ and the atonement He has done for each of us. Why do we so often choose to go our own way which often causes us pain and frustration instead of the easy path that is laid out for us by Heavenly Father to bring us true happiness and joy in our lives. How is it that we, who have sooo much, keep seeking for more and more? One brother told of a place in Africa where they collected fast offerings and sent it to Salt Lake. When ask why, the Bishop (or whatever) said that they take care of each other. If someone needs food, food is given. They think if each person has one good meal a day, that is enough. They don't need the offerings. There must be others who need it more. Even though the children have no shoes and poor clothing and enough food for one meal a day. We came home to a feast of rice with chicken, green beans, carrots, & tomatoes from the garden, stuffed celery, melon and lemonage. Who could ask for more..and we could have had much more. We need to count our blessings and show our thankfulness by being devoted to the Lord by the service we give.
